Dating: ain’t nobody got time for that

Happy Bachelor Finale Hangover Day!! I had a feeling Vanessa was going to win but WHOA I did not anticipate how awkward they were going to be together. Honestly, SO FREAKING GLAD this season is over. It was by far one of the worst. And how about them bringing out some of Rachel’s dudes? I feel like they’re already making a mockery of her season but whatevs. Now I must prepare myself for the ‘This Is Us’ season finale tonight. I don’t think I have enough tissues to get me through this episode. I literally sobbed like I lost one of my own family members a couple episodes ago. Isn’t it crazy how we get so attached to these characters?!

Anyways– this post will be short and sweet because honestly I have had ZERO time for anything over the last couple weeks. Work has been straight kicking my butt. In my profession, we have a very defined busy season and very defined bored seasons. Right now we are in the throws of busy season as everyone is gearing up for the end of the quarter which means I need to get my Q1 reports out. But first… blog post.

I wished I had some super awesome and hilarious dating stories to tell you but the truth is that I am in a bit of a dating lull. Am I still talking to Narcy? Yep. Has anything progressed out of that? Nope. Raise your hand if you are surprised… *no one raises hand*

Here’s some truth serum for ya: just because you are single, it does not mean that you have to be going on a shit ton of dates. If you don’t feel like putting yourself out there right now then don’t. You don’t have to have someone to text 24/7. You need to be comfortable in the silence because if you feel the need to ALWAYS have someone by your side, you have bigger issues to deal with, my friend. Don’t get me wrong, I love the excitement behind seeing that special someone’s name pop up on my phone but if you feel like you are not in a great place then explore that and do some soul searching! I have said it once and I will say it again 1,000x over: IT IS OK TO BE SINGLE. Stop thinking in such a closed minded way!! If you’re not going on dates right now then there is a reason why it is not happening. That reason could be a number of things but it is up to you to fully accept it and go with it.

Whenever I find myself in these weird lulls, I like to dive into books. I am always searching for ways to improve myself professionally and personally. Thankfully I am a part of this awesome Facebook group called “Skimm’bassadors”. It is a group of people who have shared theSkimm with enough people to be invited into the sacred society (now click the link and sign up because theSkimm freaking rocks). My fellow Skimm’bassador and follower of the blog (HI CHELSEY!), posted her book stack on Facebook and it was the most amazing mixture of books that I have seen in quite some time. I looked up every single one and ended up buying two off of Amazon:

Why Men Love Bitches

&

Nice Girls Still Do Not Get The Corner Office

I just started both books so be on the lookout in the next couple weeks for a full book review. I decided on these two because if one thing is going right in my life, it is my career so I need to continue to step it up and be a #girlboss. Now, you’re probably thinking that “Why Men Love Bitches” is a relationship book. You are correct BUT I am choosing to look at it under the umbrella of life. I know that I am too nice and too accommodating in a lot of areas in my life. My communication style preferences are all about that conflict avoidance and seeking input from others which has somewhat hindered me from taking a strong stance when I need to so I am hoping that this book will give me some tips and pointers to give me a little more of an edge. Not a rough, jagged edge (JAGGED EDGE. AAAYY WHERE THE PARTY AT) but enough of an edge to receive the respect that I demand and deserve.

I know this was a short post today but like I said earlier… work is kicking my @$#. G2G get these reports done.

Yes, I just wrote G2G like back in the AIM days. Make G2G great again.

Talk to you later this week!!

xoxo- C

  1. HI! Thanks for the shout out. I am currently working my way through the stack as well. Let me know if you come across any that I should add!

BTW keep grinding. If Britney Spears survived 2007, you can survive busy season 😉
